5 HINTS FOR SELECTING YOUR PERFECT CRUISE

I can’t tell you how many people say they will never go on a cruise or that they went once and never again! The “Nevers” think they will feel claustrophobic and the “Never Agains” had a bad experience on a cruise that wasn’t right for them. I’m here to tell you that even if you suffer from claustrophobia, had a bad experience or are afraid of seasickness, there is a cruise that is perfect for you.

Here are some rules of thumb to use when selecting your dream cruise.

The type of vacation you enjoy on land will probably be the same one you enjoy at sea. So, if you enjoy small elegant hotels with great service, chances are you won't enjoy a mega-ship with 24-hour action. And, if you want to party down, don’t pick a cruise line know for favoring older clientele. Match your interests to the right line and you will be happy.

Even if you find the perfect cruise line be aware that most lines have numerous ship classes, each with different amenities. Some might have special spa rooms and experiences and others might be equipped for expeditions, scuba or waterskiing; some are equipped to cater to foodies and some are family friendly. Figure out what type of experience you want, so you pick both the right line and the right ship.

When selecting a cabin, pick equal to how you live at home...or better! Some people think try to save a few bucks by selecting an inside cabin. And some cruises, like those to Alaska, require having a view – or you will end up missing the incredible scenery! Your vacation is one of the most important investments you make, don’t waste it on choices that you will be disappointed in.

When I was in my early 30s I went on my first cruise. And, while it did addict me for life, I hated the destination. It was a shopping destination and the last thing I wanted to do was shop. I didn't know what I was doing! Before selecting a cruise line, ask yourself what you want to see, do and accomplish on your cruise to get the right itinerary!
